History

We hope you will enjoy the history of the Norton Inn as much as we do. In that spirit, we have compiled a treasure trove of historic photos and included them in a gallery below.

Taking in the history at a glance, the Norton Inn is a recently restored mansion in downtown Phoenix built in 1895, one of the oldest buildings in Phoenix. It was designed by the renowned architect William R. Norton. Norton lived in the mansion with his family until passing in 1938. Norton was best known as the founder of Sunnyslope, a community within the city limits of Phoenix, Arizona, and was also the architect of the Carnegie Library and the Gila County Court house.
